Oh so sweet and shabby chic

Published November 11, 2011 by sweetcraftastrophe

Ruffles, lace, flowers oh my! Since today is Friday I’ve declared that it is Friday Briday (Bride-day)! That’s right today is dedicated to weddings and especially a shabby chic wedding! I have to admit that I have a sweet spot for weddings and for anything shabby chic. Eeek I love love love this theme so much because it is so feminine, relaxed, low key and elegant all at the same time!

Don’t you just love this inspiration board?! This type of theme would be perfect for a small, intimate gathering with your closest friends and family. My favorite type of shindig! Personally, it’s the MOST customizable theme I can think of because you’re using found objects and most of the elements are DIY.  The more personal touches you add to your wedding the more your guests will just gush over your impeccable taste!

Considering that the reception is where most of your budget is spent you have to make the most with what you have. This video is a mini crash course in dressing up your tables for your wedding. Even after your wedding is over you could definitely re-use these tips for any party.

Speaking of DIY, I found my top 5 DIY projects for your wedding! These are fairly simple and extremely elegant touches to make your wedding day a magical one!

Are these just not the most adorable shoes?! You just have to buy some stickers from the scrap booking aisle of your local craft store then peel and place. Voila you have one of a kind heels!

This is by far my favorite idea for Bride and Groom chair labels. So simple to make with some heavy cardstock in your wedding colors and ribbon to complement the color palette. If you want to take it a step further use fresh flowers on the day of.

This sweet favor idea is brought to you by beau-coup and so simple to put together.

Lace is such an integral element of the shabby chic theme so use it wisely! Too much lace (yes there is such a thing) isn’t aesthetically pleasing because your reception will look overly feminine. I love this idea of wrapping a wide lace around candles and you could even use very muted colors to go along with your color palette. If you would like, try tying a ribbon in the middle.

Shabby chic also uses a lot of found objects like these picture frames. Try going to a thrift store, vintage/antique stores to find some hidden gems. If you use this idea think of putting a different love poem inside each picture frame.
Thanks for tuning into my first Friday Briday!
Have a sweet day!
xoxo,
